There’s such a glut of good TV out there right now that it can be easy to forget that some shows even exist. Such is the case with HBO’s The Leftovers. Well, yesterday, the network released a teaser for the show’s upcoming second season. Just to remind you that, come October, your world is about to get a whole lot more depressing.
For those of you not familiar with the show, it’s adapted from the book of the same name by Tom Perrotta. It’s follows a fictional town in New York after a mysterious event has caused 2% of the world’s population to vanish. If this show somehow slipped beneath your radar, please, take a break from your job and your family and everything else in life and watch it right now. This is seriously one of the best television series I’ve ever seen. It may take a couple of episodes to get into, and the tone can be unrelentingly grim, but it’s pretty great. And the season’s last few episodes are emotionally devastating. The Leftovers easily won my Best Show of 2014 award, which is basically a certificate I printed off my computer. And also a check for five million dollars. So, there’s that.
You can check out the teaser below. The Leftovers comes back on Sunday, October 4th.
